‘Ragam-17’, the annual inter-collegiate cultural festival, got off to a colourful start at the National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) on Friday. I-INK, a literary round table with the participation of noted writers and literary critics, marked the first day of the festival.

The I-INK workshop on ‘Literature transcending boundaries’ was attended by writers Dhamayanthi, Sharankumar Limbale, Vasudhendra and Kalpetta Narayanan. Contemporary theatre artistes V.C. Harris, A. Rathnakaran and Renu Ramnath were also present among the panellists.

A workshop on pottery drew the active participation of students. Rahul Krishnan, a self-taught magician and Guinness World Record holder, enthralled students with his workshop on card-throwing for self-defence. Stand-up comedian Biswa Kalyan Rath had the audience in splits with his comic timing and wit.

The pro-show hosted in the presence of celebrated singer Sonu Nigam kept the young audience spell bound as he belted out a string of favourite hits. It was followed by a fashion show, Couture Boulevard.
