CU campus leading in arts fete

Calicut University campus took the lead with 30 points, pushing the host college to the second position on the second day of Calicut University C-Zone arts festival held at NSS College, Manjeri, on Monday.

PSMO College, Tiruranagadi, was in the third position. MES Mampad College, Mampad, was in the fourth position while Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, and Government College, Malappuram, shared the fifth positions.

Film actor Kalidas Jayaram inaugurated the stage events of the festival on Monday afternoon.

Anju P. from Farook Arts and Science College, Kottakkal, won the first prize in Ottanthullal.

In English elocution, Neelima K.E. from Unity Women’s College, Manjeri, won the first prize.

In Hindi elocution, Vrinda from Calicut University campus won the first prize.

In Sanskrit elocution, Binish K.V. from Majlis Arts and Science College, Valanchery, won the first prize.

In Urdu elocution, Noora Abdul Hakim Khan from MES Ponnani College, Ponnani, won the first prize.

In Arabi elocution, Fatima Hiba B. from MES Mampad College, Mampad, won the first prize. Archana O. from NSS College, Manjeri, won the first prizes in Sanskrit versification, Sanskrit essay writing, and Sanskrit short story writing.

In clay modeling, Arjun Hari from PSMO College, Tiruranagadi, won the first prize. Competitions in classical dance items such as Kuchipudi, Kathak, Odissi and Manipuri will take place on Tuesday.

Bharatanatyam, mono-act, folk dance, mimicry, and classical music will also be held on Tuesday.
