The agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will not work out in Kerala, says Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

The agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will not work out in Kerala, says Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that his party is willing to cooperate with anyone, including the Congress, in its fight against communalism and fascism.

However, the stance of the party should not be construed as a political alliance, he said on Friday while responding to questions from reporters on whether the CPI(M) would forge an alliance with the Congress party against communal forces at the national level.

At the news conference, he said the CPI(M) would never have a political pact with the Congress which had a different outlook on various issues. The party had clarified it on many occasions, he added. However, he pointed out that the CPI(M) would wholeheartedly cooperate with the Congress to defeat the agenda of the Sangh Parivar. The agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) would not work out in Kerala. It was destroying the peaceful coexistence of communities in the State, Mr. Balakrishnan said.

To another question, he said that the RSS would not become revolutionaries by singing revolutionary songs. It showed their political bankruptcy, he said.

He said that the RSS, which staged protest marches to the CPI(M) office, was trying to destroy a party in a democratic setup. “That should be defended at any cost. We cannot simply hide in a hole, ” he said.

He urged the police to take action against the functionaries of the controversial yoga centre at Thripunithura in Ernakulam. Illegal activities being conducted in the guise of yoga could not be accepted, he said.

The Left Democratic Front would not have any political alliance with the Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) which was a creation of the RSS. The leadership of that party should dissolve the outfit and they should continue to work in the SNDP Yogam, he said.
