The investigators in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case will be examined at the trial court from the first week of June.
R. Narayana Pisharadi, Judge, Special Additional District and Sessions Court, who is trying the case, issued directions in this regard to the prosecution on Wednesday.
The case related to a gang allegedly hired by a section of leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] hacking to death Chandrasekharan at Onchiyam on May 4, 2012.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Vadakara, Jossy Cherian; Crime Branch DySPs A.P. Shoukathali and K.V. Santhosh; and Circle Inspector V.V. Benny will be examined initially.
Meanwhile the court examined K.K. Ramya, Assistant Scientist, Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Thrissur, on Wednesday. She testified as the 142nd prosecution witness in the case.
Ms. Ramya said she had collected five samples from the scene of crime to be examined at the forensic lab following a direction from the Home Department. She was then attached to the District Crime Records Bureau, Kozhikode.
Ms. Remya said she had visited Vallikad at 9.30 a.m. on May 5, 2012. The samples she had collected included a cloth containing gun powder, thread, pieces of paper, and blood-stained soil.
All the samples collected were later handed over to Mr. Benny, who was at Vallikkad. The mahassar was prepared based on her statement. The officer also recorded it there, she said. Deposing before the court, K. Padmanabhan, senior civil police officer, said he had seen the body of Chandrasekharan when it was taken for post-mortem examination to the Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode.
