In a tragic incident, a 60-year-old man and his wife, who were on their way to invite relatives and friends to the marriage of their daughter, were knocked down by a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) at Koyilandy on Sunday.
The couple, Moidu and Nabeesa, 47, natives of Balussery, succumbed to injuries on the spot. The SUV that sped way from the spot unmindful of caring the victims was taken into police custody after a few kilometres’ chase. Viswanathan Iyer, the man who allegedly drove the vehicle, was nabbed by the police and charged under section 304 (A) (Causing death by negligence).
