Counselling for families in Thooneri

March 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - Kozhikode:

The Nadapuram police will organise a special counselling programme at Kadathanad Rajas High School in Purameri on Saturday to help the women and children who were exposed to a series of political violence and vandalism in Thooneri following the murder of DYFI activist Shibin Bhaskaran.

The camp organised under the Janamaithri Community Policing Scheme will begin at 10.30 a.m. Professional counsellors from the Government District Hospital, Vadakara, will steer the programme, which is expected to draw the participation nearly 100 persons from the area.

M. Pushpavalli, Sub Inspector from Nadapuram station and one of the coordinators of the programme, said the programme was scheduled for Saturday, taking into account the requests of the women from the region.

“We decided to conduct the camp, as women from the region demanded it during our house visits. Even children, too, were found struggling to come out of the shock,” she said.
