Comprehensive project for Kozhikode planned

The District Planning Committee has decided to formulate a comprehensive project for tapping the potentials and meeting the needs of Kozhikode.

This was decided at a meeting of the committee here on Friday. The district town planning officer would be the nodal officer for the project. A survey would be carried out in the first phase, the officials said. Reports and suggestions from various departments would be elicited for the purpose. Discussions would be held before finalising the schemes. The project would give emphasis on the growth opportunities in the district. Basic infrastructure, health, sanitation, education, social security programmes, tourism and urban-rural development would be given thrust.

The cultural and geographical needs of the district would be e included in the project. The committee also approved the projects of 32 grama panchayats for the current fiscal.
