Of total 10,065 complaints received for the Chief Minister’s mass contact programme to be held in the district on Saturday, a majority deals with rectification of defects in ration cards.
The district administration says a total of 5,037 complaints are from consumers who were not given the BPL status they claimed to be eligible for.
Another 3,000 petitions are for seeking financial help for medical treatment.
The Chief Minister will be pronouncing financial relief at the venue in each case.
Rs.5 crore
The District Collector says a fund of Rs.5 crore has been sought from the State government for this purpose.
At least 6,000 people are expected to participate in the mass contact programme to be held on November 16. About 150 dignitaries will be seated on the dais.
The preparations for the programme are large-scale with 12 counters situated along both sides of the stage. An enquiry counter will be located right at the main entrance. The stage will be flanked on both sides with disabled–friendly ramps.
There is a separate pavilion for officials, while media will be accommodated on the eastern side of the stage.
The rear part of the stage will have washrooms and rest rooms for the Chief Minister and other important personalities.
Vehicles should be parked at the beach ground. A rehearsal of the event will be held at 10 a.m. on November 15.
An official statement says the CM will start receiving complaints from 8.45 a.m., and will receive fresh petitions from 1 p.m. onwards.
Those with fresh petitions should also annex their identification card and ration card copies along with the complaints.
Those who are seeking financial help for medical treatment should annex an original of a medical certificate issued not less than six months ago.
Petitioners have been given time slots to avoid overcrowding on the premises. The district administration has requested petitioners to come only half hour before their allotted time.
Minister for Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes A.P. Anil Kumar, Social Justice Minister M.K. Muneer, Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb, Members of Parliament M.K. Raghavan, M.I. Shanavas, local MLAs, among others, are expected to attend the programme.
