Compensation to be given

Tenants and workers of commercials establishments will be compensated under the rehabilitation package following of the acquisition of land for widening the Mananchira-Vellimadukunnu road in the city.

District Collector C.A. Latha said during a District Level Purchase Committee meeting held here on Friday that the land would be acquired based on a 2009 survey. The meeting was meant for land owners and shopkeepers on the stretch from Kottaram Road Junction to Eranhipalam Sarovaram Road. She said that the government had fixed Rs.17 lakh per cent on the stretch. The rate of buildings would be fixed only after officials carried out a check. Those agreeing to the terms could submit their consent letter to the Tasildhar (Land Acquisition) within a week, she said.
