Compensation for NH 17 land acquisition sought

April 28, 2013 11:53 am | Updated November 16, 2021 08:10 pm IST - Kozhikode:

The District Development Council on Saturday resolved in a meeting that the State government should announce a compensation package for those whose land has been acquired for the National Highway 17 project here.

K. Dasan, Koyilandy MLA, said in the meeting that the government had not budged despite the council’s request for immediate announcement of the package.

The council had communicated the urgency for a resolution in favour of the people who had lost land to the public project after repeated consultations and meetings with the affected parties and the district administration authorities, he said.

The meeting, presided over by Additional District Magistrate K.P. Ramadevi, saw Purushan Kadalundi, Balussery MLA, complain that quality checks should be conducted on the coconut oil produced at the Kerafed outlet at Naduvannoor panchayat.

A representative of M.I. Shanavas, Wayanad MP, drew the council’s attention to the increasing cases of fever and other water-borne diseases along the banks of the Chaliyar and the Iruvazhinipuzha.
