A road washed away in a landslip at Kakkayam in Kozhikode.

A team of officials headed by District Collector C.A. Latha, on Thursday, visited Kakkayam, where a small landslip was reported on Wednesday evening. The Collector visited the spot as the threat was continuing in the hilly region.

A portion of the road leading to the tourist site had been partly destroyed in the incident.

Purushan Kadalundi, MLA, and officers from the Public Works Department and the Kerala State Electricity Board accompanied the Collector to the location.

The team reviewed the measures already taken to prevent the cave-in of land along the hill road and clear waterlogged areas.

As per a standing order from the Collector, sightseers would not be allowed to visit the spot till the monsoon subsided.

The restriction was imposed as 18 tourists were stranded near the Kakkayam dam site on Wednesday following the landslip.
