District Collector N. Prasanth has rubbished the allegations raised by the Heritage Animal Task Force vis-à-vis the elephant ride of the winners of Malabar River Festival, saying that neither the District Administration nor the District Tourism Promotion Council had any role in the elephant ride which was arranged by the locals.

“If there is any complaint regarding non-compliance of rules, the same has to be submitted to the District Collector.

No such complaint has been submitted till date, which shows that the person concerned is only interested in cheap publicity,” he said.

Mr. Prasanth also further added that the greatest bane of all animals was that people try to make publicity for themselves than genuinely trying to sort out problems. The poor speechless animals probably have the worst advocates.

“Writing pompous letters to the Prime Minister and the President for sorting out a local issue without even checking the facts shows the intention.

It's quite sad that actual cruelty to animals goes unnoticed and unattended while such gimmicks get good attention,” the Collector added.
