Collector: focus on human development

March 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - Kozhikode:

The district administration will focus on human development, according to District Collector N. Prasanth.

At a face-to-face programme organised by the Calicut Press Club here on Thursday, Mr. Prasanth who took charge as the Collector of the district about a month ago, said that he had his priorities well in place.

He said that a large section of people including those in old-age homes, mental health hospitals and rehabilitation centres were marginalised

“What they need is no financial help, but attention and care from the rest of the world,” said Mr. Prasanth who had earlier served the city as its Sub Collector a few years ago.

A project was being planned to facilitate a healthy interaction of the youth with these marginalised sections. Such interactions would help the youth to understand life from different perspectives, he said.

Mr. Prasanth, who was formerly the private secretary to Home Minister, said that the district would benefit from his previous experience at the Secretariat. The Collector said he would make use of the social networking sites such as Facebook for more effective public administration.

“Its quick, effective and transparent with no room for red-tapism,” he said.
