CPI (M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has alleged that the Chief Minister and the Home Minister are together criminalising the Police department.

Speaking after inaugurating an LDF public meeting demanding the resignation of the Chief Minister here on Saturday, he said that the LDF was ready to face any retaliation from the government against its protests and that the Chief Minister’s arrogance would be dealt using the power of the masses.

Mr. Vijayan said the police’s beating up of a worker during a protest against the Chief Minister in Thiruvananthapuram recently, was unparalleled cruelty.

Murder attempt

The policemen who unleashed such cruelty should be penalised for murder attempt.

The police approach was such that innocents were victimised and the guilty were protected, he added.

The investigation of the solar case was only to protect the accused.

The investigators were working as per the wishes of the Chief Minister.

Forging affidavits

They were trying to protect the Chief Minister by forging affidavits. Hence the need for the judicial inquiry. But the Chief Minister should step aside while the inquiry went on, he said.

The LDF would continue the protest until the Chief Minister resigned, Mr. Vijayan said.
