Closure notice to martial arts centre

May 26, 2014 01:38 pm | Updated 01:38 pm IST - Kozhikode:

The Nadakkavu police have issued closure notice to a martial arts training centre at West Hill in the city.

The notice was issued as the master trainer of the institute was found involved in a murder attempt on a man in connection with an illegal moneylending deal. Cases had been registered against some of his trainees too for assisting him.

The police said M. Dileep Kumar, the owner and trainer of the institute who was nabbed in connection with the incident, had been offering his institute’s manpower for supporting illegal deals of moneylenders.

The borrowers used to be threatened by the gang for money, they added.

Police officials said action would be taken against such training centres linked with illegal moneylenders.

“We have received strict instructions from the Home Minister and no one will be exempted,” they said.

With the arrest of the karate trainer, some of the senior police officers who maintained close ties with him too have come under the police scanner.
