Cleaning drive from tomorrow

April 26, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Kozhikode:

The Kozhikode Corporation is launching the second edition of its pre-monsoon cleaning campaign — Mazhayethum Munpe — in the city on Monday. The campaign includes activities such as mosquito control, de-silting of drains and removing plastic from them, collection and management of inorganic waste, cleaning of public places and premises of institutions, creating general awareness on health, distributing rat poison and sanitation inspections.

The campaign has been envisaged in an orderly manner with proper coordination among the ward councillors, health inspectors, Health Department officials, ward committee conveners, and Kudumbasree ADS and CDS chairpersons.

Meetings

The coordination will be ensured through meetings at the Corporation level, circle level, and at the ward level. Action committees will be formed at each level.

Dates have been fixed for the various committees to undertake each activity. The drive is scheduled to be completed by May 31. The activities under the campaign will go hand in hand with the Corporation’s cleanliness drive — Clean Kozhikode-Suchitwa Nagaram Sundara Nagaram. The previous edition of Mazhayethum Munpe was quite effective as the city was not troubled much by contagious diseases last monsoon.
