Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty on Saturday, said that the existing mindset of people had to change for industrial development to come to the State.
Inaugurating the North Kerala Zonal Council of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) at Gateway hotel here, the Minister observed “Our campuses are currently having a vibrant youth force who have the potential to think big and dream of innovative ventures, which would certainly usher in a change in the coming years.”
He said land acquisition for new projects was becoming a problem in Kerala.
“Without getting the required land, we would not be possible to invest more in infrastructure development,” he maintained. Earlier in a presentation on “Resurgence of Malabar through Knowledge-based Industries”, T.P. Srinivasan, vice-chairman and executive head of the Kerala State Higher Education Council, said it was time for the State to identify the needs of the modern industries and mould students to their needs. “Now we have skills, but it does not match to the requirement of the potential employers,” he observed.
P.H. Kurian, Principal Secretary (Industries and IT), said the people of Malabar should introspect why the region was missing several growth opportunities.
