Chandy skips inauguration of plant

July 21, 2013 02:36 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 08:55 pm IST - KOZHIKODE:

The Chief Minister who was supposed to inaugurate the Milma ice-cream plant at Pringalam in Kunnamangalam on Saturday did not do so as the police officials warned him that protests were expected from various pro-left youth organisations.

The plant was later inaugurated by Minister for Rural Affairs K.C. Joseph, who was formerly invited to chair the inaugural function.

Mr. Joseph, in his inaugural address, alleged that some of the political activists were trying to create martyrs in the State through violence and riots. “The Chief Minister kept away from the function as a precautionary measure to avoid untoward incidents like the one that occurred in Koothuparamba,” the Minsiter claimed.
