There were several clashes between workers of the Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI-M] after T.P. Chandrasekharan floated the dissident organisation, K.V. Santhosh, chief investigating officer in the case of murder of the RMP leader said here on Wednesday.
Five-day examination
The Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP), Crime Branch, was deposing as prosecution witness before R. Narayana Pisharadi, Judge, Special Additional District and Sessions Court (Marad Cases).
On the last day the five-day examination, Mr. Santhosh told the court the political reasons that impelled a section of CPI(M) leaders to hatch a conspiracy to allegedly murder the leader.
The case related to a gang allegedly hired by the CPI (M) hacking to death Chandrasekharan at Vallikkad at Onchiyam on May 4, 2012.
[Some of the clashes had occurred after the defeat of the CPI (M) candidate P. Sathidevi from Vadakara Lok Sabha constituency in 2009.
The political rivalry between the two parties had escalated after P. Mohanan of the CPI(M), who was the chief election agent of the CPI(M) candidate, was allegedly attacked by RMP workers.
Youth leader attacked
RMP youth wing leader P. Jayan was attacked with weapons at Thiruthimukku, near Eramala, at 11.30 a.m. on March 19, 2010.
The Edacherry police had registered a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
The police had also registered a case against K.C. Ramachandran, 8th accused in the Chandrasekharan murder case and member of the Kunnummakkara local committee of the CPI(M) and others for attacking Thirumumbu Balan with weapons at 9 p.m. on January 21, 2012.
The case was registered on the basis of a complaint by his wife, he said.
The officer also submitted the copies of the First Information Report of all the three cases in the court.
Chemical analysis
The prosecution also submitted the reports of the chemical analysis of the samples of the blood and hair of the accused.
The DNA test revealed that the blood stains in a liquor bottle recovered along with the number plate of a vehicle at Chokli by Panur Circle Inspector Jayan Dominic was that of Shijth, aka Annan, sixth accused in the case, he said.
It was also found that the blood stains and hair in the Toyota Innova Car used by the assailants were that of Shijith, P.V. Rafeeque (18th accused), and K.P. Dipin (29th accused).
