The government was scared of its "political allies" for initiating steps to acquire land for the widening of the Kuttippuram-Ramanattukara stretch of the NH.

The Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), on Tuesday, alleged that Kerala government was showing acute negligence in the acquisition of land required for the development of a four-lane national highway (NH).

Chamber leaders and well-wishers who held a special meeting on the issue, said the government was scared of its “political allies” for initiating steps to acquire land for the widening of the Kuttippuram-Ramanattukara stretch of the NH.

T.P. Vasu, secretary of the chamber, said in a communication here that the Centre too was aware of the laxity of the State government as the Union Ministers had already pinpointed the delay of the State in handing over the required land.

“If things are moving at this pace, we would be compelled to mobilise public support on the issue and go ahead with strong agitations,” he added.

The meeting, presided over by CCCI president P.T.S. Unni, also condemned the alleged indifference on the part of the State government in acquiring additional land for the development of the Calicut International Airport, Karipur, the communication said.
