CBI probe against Karim sought

November 28, 2013 02:26 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 07:50 pm IST - Kozhikode:

Youth Congress State general secretary Adam Mulsi, on Wednesday, called for a CBI inquiry into the alleged involvement of former Industries Minister Elamaram Karim in granting permission for mining iron ore in the environmentally sensitive Chakkittapara village in Kozhikode district.

In a communication here, Mr. Mulsi said the suspected involvement of a Karnataka-based mining lobby in the incident should be taken very seriously. The stoppage of mining activities alone would never expose the shady deals behind the incident, he claimed. Mr. Mulsi said Mr. Karim had been showing his soft corner for the mining lobbies with his firm stance against the implementation of the Kasturirangan report. The Revolutionary Marxist Party has also sought an inquiry against Mr. Karim. Organising Secretary of the party N. Venu told reporters here on Wednesday that there was a huge conspiracy to handover acres of land to mining lobbies.
