Car rally for cancer patients

The participants will cover 143.6 km from Kozhikode to Gudalur.

A car rally, covering 143.6 km is being organised by the Y’s Men’s Club of Calicut Metro on January 18 for its Cancer Care programme, club’s president M. Santhosh and event organiser M. A. Koya announced at a press conference here.

City Police Commissioner A. Sparjankumar will flag off the car rally from Beach Hotel at Kozhikode beach at 8 a.m.. The participants will cover 143.6 km from Kozhikode to Gudalur through Nilambur. Each car will have a navigator besides the driver. The participant has to reach the destination precisely in three hours and 42 minutes.

There will be check-posts along the route to monitor the progress of the competitors. The winner, runner –up and third prize winner will get Rs. 25,000, Rs. 15000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.

Each participant has to pay Rs. 6,000 as entry fee.

The funds raised would be used for cancer treatment, as in the previous years.
