Canolly canal to be developed in Kozhikode

An advisory committee with District Collector C.A. Latha as chairperson has been constituted for the comprehensive development of Canolly canal in the city.

Minister for Social Justice M.K. Muneer; M.K. Raghavan, MP; Mayor A.K.Premajam; A. Pradeepkumar, MLA, and A.K.Saseendran, MLA, will be members of the committee.

Checking pollution

The committee which held a meeting at the Collectorate here on Monday decided to check pollution and safety of the canal.

A meeting of the residents association of those functioning alongside the canal would also held in this regard.

The Kerala Sustainable Urban Development Project would be approached to explore possibilities for developing Canolly canal in the tourism sector.

Volunteers’ help

The service of the volunteers of Haritha Sena and National Service Scheme would be used for de-silting and beautification of the canal, sources said.
