Chihuahua, one of the smallest breeds of dog, will be one of the key attractions at the All Breeds Championship dog show to be held in Kozhikode on Sunday.

The 34{+t}{+h}edition of the All Breeds Championship dog show to be organised by the Malabar Canine Club will be held at the Zamorine’s Higher Secondary School grounds here on March 1. From the smallest breed of dog, Chihuahua, to the tallest variety, Great Dane, will be featured at the show.

Club secretary Arangil Girish Kumar told a press conference here on Thursday that a large variety of dogs from different States, including Haryana, Maharashtra, Punjab and West Bengal, would compete in different categories. “As it was last year, the Borzoi breed, which is also called the Russian wolfhound, will be one of the key attractions of the show,” said Mr. Girish Kumar.

Around 300 dogs of various breeds, including St. Bernard, Siberian Husky, Poodle, Fila Brasileiro, Bull Mastiff, Irish Setter, Afghan Hound, Fox Terrier, Bulldog, Boxer, Caravan Hound, South African Boerboel and Pinscher, would participate in the show.

Entry to the show would be restricted through pass and would be from 1.30 p.m.

Prior to the all breeds championship show on March 1, a Labrador show would be held on Saturday morning and an obedience show in the afternoon.

The All Breeds Championship dog show would be judged by noted referees from abroad while the rest of the competitions would be umpired by prominent judges from the country, said the organisers.
