The mobile phone call log of K.K. Praseeth, one of the eyewitnesses in the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder case showed that he was not present at the spot when the Revolutionary Marxist Party leader was hacked to death allegedly by a seven-member gang at Vallikkad on May 4, 2012.
This was revealed during the cross-examination of Shahin M. Komath, Alternate Nodal Officer of Vodafone Cellular Ltd., before the Special Additional District and Sessions Court (Marad Cases) here on Thursday. Praseeth had been at Vellikulangara at the time when Chandrasekharan was killed at 10.15 p.m. based on the information from the mobile phone tower location, the prosecution witness said.
Praseeth had earlier deposed that he had been present at the spot when the incident occurred and he had identified M.C. Anoop, the first accused, T.K. Rajeesh, the fourth accused, and K. Shinoj, the seventh accused, and the weapons.
He had then told the court that a seven-member gang had reached the scene of crime in a Toyota Innova Multi Utility Vehicle bearing register number KL-58- D- 8144. He said he was decorating the streets in connection with the annual celebrations of Vallikkad Brothers Club at the Vyshakuni U.P. School from 8 p.m. on the day, he had said.
The call record showed that Praseeth had made 28 calls and he had also received eight calls on his mobile phone on May 4, 2012. The connection was taken in the name of Beena, his wife, Mr. Komath said.
Meanwhile, the call details of five accused —Shijith alias Annan, Shanoj aka Kelan, Vayappadachi Rafeeq, C.K. Rejikanth alias Koorappan, and M.P. Sanoop, were produced before the court.
Mr. Komath also told the court that N.K. Sunil Kumar alias Kodi Suni, the third accused, had contacted Vayappadachi Rafeeq, 18th accused, for hiring the Innova car that had been used by the assailants. Previously, he had said that the 13th accused and CPI(M) leader P.K. Kunhanandan had contacted over mobile phone C. Babu Chalil, the 42nd accused and office secretary of the Koothuparamba area committee of the CPI(M) the next day after Chandrasekharan was killed.
