The growth of Calicut from a sleepy small town with dirt roads to what is now the nerve centre of Malabar, has been displayed at a photo exhibition being held as part of ‘Khalbile Kozhikode’ programme at St. Joseph’s Boys Higher Secondary School.

The picture exhibition starts with the life in the city in the 19th century. There are photos of people belonging to different communities. The social change is described with the advent of a clutch of educational institutions set up in later years. There are black and white pictures of Malabar Christian College, one of the oldest educational institutions in the region, and the earlier schools in Calicut.

The leading personalities in the socio-culture spheres of the city, its affection for music and football too have been represented.
