‘Bystander’ flees with patient’s money

The man, who spent hours with him as a charity worker, decamped from the hospital with his purse and a few other articles.

A patient who was undergoing treatment at Government Medical College Hospital, Kozhikode, following a leg fracture lost around Rs.17,000 in the trickery of a fraud bystander.

K.V. Beerankutty, the patient hailing from Thiruvambadi, filed a complaint with the Kozhikode Medical College police on Wednesday.

And, he was a charity worker?

As per the complaint, the man who spent hours with him as a charity worker decamped from the hospital with his purse and a few other articles.

The complainant himself had handed over the purse to him while he was taken to the X-ray room as part of the treatment, the police said.

The police would examine the CCTV at the hospital to trace the accused.
