The Malapparamba AUP School will continue to function from the Engineers’ Conference Hall at the Kozhikode Collectorate with the engineers’ association going back on their demand to have it released.

The school was temporarily shifted to the hall following its closure on June 8, until better arrangements were made. The four classes with about 60 students had been going on smoothly until the engineers’ association recently claimed the hall back. However, the problem was amiably settled with the District Collector’s intervention on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the School Protection Committee is continuing its silent protest at the building that used to house the school. The anganwadi on the premises remains open under police protection. The committee plans to continue the protest until the State government keeps its word and the classes are shifted back from the Collectorate to the original building. “We are expecting an order by July 15,” said R.K. Iravail, one of the protesters.
