KOZHIKODE: BJP national executive committee member P.K. Krishnadas, on Friday, accused CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan of maintaining ties with smugglers. He said the ‘yatra’ recently led by Mr. Balakrishnan had brought to light his ties with such gangs with the silent patronage of senior colleagues in the party.

He said the CPI(M)’s affluent candidates who had amassed huge wealth through unholy means and contested as independents in the election were emerging as the party’s chief sponsors. It took a long time to arrest even the five terror suspects from Kannur though Intelligence agencies had tipped off the government about their operations several months ago, he alleged.
