The UDF government has no right to continue in office after it failed to communicate with the Centre its requirements before the Railway Budget and the Union Budget, BJP State secretary K. Surendran has said.

Speaking to the media here on Saturday, he alleged that the Chief Minister and the government had deliberately “slowed down” matters for political gains and to show that the State was being neglected by the Centre.

The BJP would hold a mass protest against this attitude of the government, he said.

“The State received Rs.200 crore more than the previous budget this time. Even eight union ministers in the UPA government could not get an IIT for the State. The government was ready to sanction an AIIMS in Kerala, as soon as the State got the required land. Moreover, the Centre was ready to support the State, considering its financial and developmental crisis,” Mr.Surendran said.

He alleged that the State could have received Rs.2,000 crore for drought relief but the government failed to submit an action plan before June 30. The State did not even care to seek an extension. Revenue Minister Adoor Prakash had said the plan could not be submitted as the Assembly was in session.

The government had done no homework before the Railway Budget and the Union Budget.

He said the Left parties were blindly supporting the State government because of their anti-Modi attitude. A creative Opposition would point out the faults of the ruling front and strive to correct it, he added.
