The Magistrate Titty George was acting after the Thamarassery Deputy of Police Jaison K. Abraham, who is investigating three such cases in the district, moved an application requesting the court for questioning them.

Previously the Kasaba police had officially recorded the arrest of Saritha when she was remanded in judicial custody in Ernakulam. Later, they also recorded the arrest of Biju.

Both of the accused were produced in court on Wednesday. The police custody will end at 5 p.m. on August 16.

The Elathur police have already registered a case against the couple for swindling Rs 12 lakh from a city-based businessman for setting up a franchise of the Team Solar Company. This was on the basis of a complaint from Vincent Simon of Mokavoor, Erhanikkal.

Investigators said that Saritha had approached the victim as Lakshmi Nair, Zonal Manager of the company while Biju introduced himself as K.B. Nair or Biju Nair.

Saritha and Biju, were running a firm called Team Solar Renewable Energy Solutions at Chittoor Road in Kochi.
