Big show of small industries

Kozhikode: The International Industrial Exhibition of machines and materials being organized by the Kerala State Small Industries Association (KSSIA) in cooperation with various other stakeholders in the sector here is a must visit for those who plan to start, upgrade or expand their existing small scale industry unit in different sectors.

The show opened by the Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty at the Swapnanagari Grounds here on Monday is also aimed at those who newly plan to invest in a small scale industry unit after studying the possibilities as well as the pros and cons of different industry segments, say its organizers.

In three different halls the exhibition showcases the latest materials used for productions in different sectors including foot wear and food processing in addition the most up-to-date machines and technologies used by leaders in different segments. “For a common man, the show offers nothing beyond a curiosity value, but for a prospective investor, the show can be a real eye-opener,” says V.K. C. Naushad, one of the key organizers of the event.

The latest machines and materials used by different industries in diverse segments have been put on show in over 300 stalls. The visitors, each a potential customer, can also spend time at each stall to get familiarized with the product and collect details about them by interacting with the accompanying staffs. The show not only has exhibitors from different parts of the country by also has several foreign companies including from Italy, Germany and China exhibiting their products and technologies in different segments.

The Denim Canvas, PU-Suede, Leather Suede and Fashion jute used in footwear and leather sector are some of the attractions besides live demonstrations of machines used in packaging, food processing and fashion sector. Visual presentations demonstrating the functioning of the machine are also part of the show.

Plastic, polyurethane, wood and furniture, Information Technology, food processing, engineering and footwear are some of the important segments covered by the show. The general public will be allowed to the exhibition only from 3 to 6 p.m. on the final day of the show on Wednesday. “Unlike any other industrial exhibition, its an event completely organized by State Small Industries Association members,” said K.P.A. Hashim, coordinator of the event, who expressed confidence that the exhibition would definitely have some “solid impact” on the future course of small scale industries in the State.
