The Left Democratic Front government will take action against Transport Minister Thomas Chandy if he is found to have committed any illegal act, CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said.

He was here on Wednesday to participate in a protest programme to mark the first anniversary of demonetisation.

Mr. Balakrishnan said that the government would not protect any wrongdoers and action would be taken against them. He alleged that the Opposition was trying to raise allegations against Mr. Chandy to divert attention from the solar case. The CPI(M) leader said that the report of the judicial commission in the solar case would be tabled in the Legislative Assembly and action would be initiated against the accused. Mr. Balakrishnan’s comments come against the backdrop of the observations against Mr. Chandy by the High Court.
