Attack on BJP office: 5 DYFI activists held

Fve DYFI-CPI (M) workers were arrested in connection with the vandalising of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office at Neeleshwaram here on Independence Day in sporadic incidents of violence after a DYFI meet held at Kottapara, near Kanhangad.

The Neeleswaram police arrested the activists, identified as Arunraj, 19, C. Gopi, 33, T.K. Sudheesh, 27, K. Rajiv, 39 and K. Ravi, 42, in connection with the attack on the BJP’s Neeleswaram-Thrikkaripur madalam committee office while returning after taking part in the DYFI-sponsored ‘Prathirodha Sangamam’ at Kottapara.

The arrested, charged under the provisions of IPC Section 143,147,427 and 452, were remanded to judicial custody by a court in Kanhangad on Saturday evening, they said.
