As many as 34 persons have filed nominations papers for the Assembly polls on Wednesday.
With this, a total of 69 persons have submitted their nominations for the 13 assembly segments in the district. K.K. Rema, wife of slain RMP leader T.P. Chandrasekharan was among those who submitted her nominations. She will contest from Vadakara constituency.
Sitting legislators K.K. Lathika and K. Dasan, both of CPI (M), filed their nomination papers to contest from Kuttiyadi and Koyilandy segments respectively. Both are seeking a second term from the same constituencies. Another CPI(M) MLA, Purushan Kadalundi, filed his nominations from the reserved constituency of Balussery.
Sitting legislators A.K. Saseendran of the NCP, partner of the LDF, filed his nominations papers from the Elathur segment.
Up-and-coming young Congress leaders T. Siddique and M.P. Adam Mulsi submitted their papers from Kunnamangalam and Beypore assembly constituencies respectively.
Prominent BJP leaders including former State president C.K. Padmanabhan has filed his nominations to contest from Kunnamangalam constituency where a multi-cornered contest is on the cards. BJP State vice president K.P. Sreeshan filed his nominations from Kozhikode North constituency which is also witnessing a three-cornered electoral battle. Filmmaker Ali Akbar, who has been nominated by BJP, has filed his nominations from Kunnamangalam.

Nadapuram: Sukumaran Nair (BDJS); K.V. Mohammed (WPI)
Balussery: K. Balan ( SDPI); Saseendran (WPI); P.K. Supran (BJP).
Kozhikode South: Kamala (BSP); K. Moideen Koya (IUML dummy candidate); Abdul Wahad (INL).
Beypore: P.C. Mohammed Kutty (WPI); M. Abdul Qajyum (WPI); Ajeesh Kumar Erakkathil (Independent).
Koduvally : Babu (Independent).
Thiruvambady: Giri Pambanal (BDJS); P.A.Sreedharan (BDJS)
The filing of nominations began last Friday. Nominations will be accepted till April 29.
