Anti-filariasis drive in Kozhikode district

Ward-level gatherings held; medicines distributed

Mayor A.K. Premajam inaugurated the anti-filariasis campaign in the district at a function held at the Beach General Hospital here on Sunday.

Corporation Health Standing Committee chairperson Janamma Kunhunni presided. As part of the drive, an announcement campaign on vehicles was held in the district to create awareness of the disease and the need to take medicines to be provided by health workers in the coming days. Ward-level gatherings were held in the district in the afternoon creating awareness of the disease. Medicines were distributed at the gatherings for immediate consumption.

From Monday, for three days, health workers will visit houses, distributing tablets and ensuring that they are consumed by the residents. Health workers will visit places such as auditoriums, offices, shops, railway stations, bus stands and private hospitals, distributing the tablets and ensuring consumption. Between March 10 and 15, booths will be set up at government and private hospitals and public health centres.
