After a five-month restoration, the ancestral home of Kunjali Marakkar at Kottakkal is ready for its formal reopening. Official sources say the site will be opened for tourists soon after getting the final nod from the Department of Archaeology headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram.

The restoration of the protected monument was completed without alterations to the structure. Of the Rs. 10.5 crore allotted for the works, Rs. 6.5 crore has been spent. The remaining amount will be spent on the beautification of the premises and drainage work.

A proposal for drinking water supply will be submitted to the department.
