Rape charge: ABVP demands dismissal of college teacher

July 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:27 am IST - Kozhikode:

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists took out a march to Farook College here on Thursday demanding the college authorities to dismiss an assistant professor who was recently arrested on the charge of raping a 20-year-old dalit girl student.

They also sought the intervention of the Kerala State Women’s Commission and the Commission for Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to get justice to the victim.

Inaugurating the march, ABVP national working committee member K.V. Varun Prasad alleged that the college authorities, who took a stern stance on arranging separate seats for girls and boys, maintained silence on an incident in which a Dalit student was abused by a teacher. He said the ABVP would intensify the stir if the management failed to initiat e action against the accused.
