All public events that were earlier scheduled to be organised between May 24 and May 31 have been postponed in the district in the wake of Nipah outbreak. Officials said examinations declared by the Public Service Commission and Calicut University too had been postponed.

As part of the restrictions, no public meetings and processions will be allowed in the district till May 31. The restrictions imposed by District Collector U.V. Jose will be applicable for special training classes and tuition for students.

The Skill Development Centre functioning under the district panchayat too will not be conducting classes till May 31. However, a help desk will be active at the centre, officials said.

Mr. Jose said restrictions were imposed as part of efforts to reduce the circumstances of spreading the viral infection. On Friday, an all-party meeting will be held at the collectorate conference hall to review the situation, he added.
