Aid for residents of orphanages

July 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:38 am IST - Kozhikode:

The State government has several schemes to help the residents of orphanages in the State – for their studies, wedding and to seek self- employment even after they go out of the orphanage. But such facilities are rarely used. A meeting of the Orphanage Monitoring Committee here on Tuesday urged the residents to use the schemes to their best advantage.

The committee pointed out that those residents of the orphanages who have completed Plus Two can have their higher education completely funded by the State government. Besides, they get a grant of Rs.50,000 for their wedding and another Rs.50,000 through the employment exchanges to seek self-employment, the committee noted.

Vaccination

With diphtheria being reported in the district, vaccination against such diseases will be carried out at all orphanages in the district.

Orphanages asked to apply for grant before September 30
