November 22, 2014 12:51 pm | Updated 12:51 pm IST - Kozhikode:

The Rural police have registered a case against Perod Abdurahiman Saqafi, one of the senior administrative board members of the Parakkadavu Darul Huda English Medium School, on the charge of delivering an abusive speech against a four-and-a-half-year old girl child who was allegedly abused by senior students at the school.

The case was registered against him on Friday by the Valayam police under Section 500 (Punishment for defamation) and Section 201 (punishment for giving false information to screen the offender) of the Indian Penal Code. He was also charged under Section 23 (Punishment for cruelty to juvenile or child) of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Parent’s plea

Police officers said the case was registered after getting a written complaint from the victim’s father. It was on Thursday that the parent filed a petition directly to the District Police Chief on the incident. The complainant had alleged that the senior administrative board member of the school made an abusive speech in public tarnishing the image of the girl child and her family on the incident.

Sexual assault

It was on October 30 that the sexual assault against the kindergarten student reportedly occurred. The police had detained two students from the same institute in connection with the incident.
