Financial assistance of₹1.26 crore was handed over to 593 beneficiaries on the first day of the District Collector’s mass contact programme in Kozhikode taluk on Monday. This mainly included aid from the Chief Minister’s relief fund.
Nine families received title deeds at the programme. Of the 1,214 applications considered, 491 were on-the-spot complaints. The highest number of complaints was processed at the special counter for complaints related to the release of Chief Minister’s relief fund.
Complaints related to banking were handled by a team led by District Lead Bank Manager P.L. Sunil. Mostly, complaints on home loan schemes and educational loans were addressed. One-time settlement benefit was recommended for several education loan-takers.
People’s representatives and local body members too made use of the opportunity to address their grievances on various public issues. M.K. Muneer, MLA, urged the Collector to resume the functioning of Palattu A.U.P. School, which was recently taken over by the government from a private management. The Collector promised to discuss the issue at a separate meeting.
The mass contact programme also extended a compassionate aid of ₹30,000 to K.V. Adarsh, a differently-abled student and orphan, for his higher studies. The aid would be made available every year as educational scholarship. The request of Dinvin Hari, another differently-abled kid, was also considered for regular aid under the ‘Áswasakiranam’ project of the State government.
Along with District Collector U.V. Jose, Mayor Thottathil Raveendran, Additional District Magistrate T. Janilkumar, Revenue Divisional Officer Shamin Sebastian, and Corporation secretary Mrunmayi Joshi were present.
The second day programme will be held at Vadakara Town Hall on Tuesday.
