The Coast Guard on Tuesday rescued 12 fishermen whose boat was partially submerged 35 nautical miles off the Beypore coast.
The boat, Stenny, carrying fishermen from Munambam in Ernakulam district, was partially submerged due to the ingress of sea water through a crack on the hull. All the 12 fishermen belonged to Tamil Nadu, a press release said here on Tuesday.
The Coast Guard Interceptor Boat, C-144, located the boat at 1 a.m. on Tuesday. The fishing boat was towed to Bepore harbour by boats Akshara and Thadeyus with the escort of the Coast Guard ship.
The boat with the crew reached Beypore at 5.45 p.m. All the crew members were handed over to the Marine Enforcement Wing of the State Fisheries Department for further formalities, the release said.
