In yet another incident of acid attack, a college girl was injured at Arambagh in Hooghly district on Monday.
The second year student of Netaji Mahavidyalaya was attacked by unidentified youths outside the college.
A resident of Bankura, the girl suffered injuries on her right hand and other parts of the body. The victim has been admitted to Arambagh Sub-divisional Hospital.
She said the youths came on a bike and fled away after hurling acid on her. She said she could not identify them.
The development comes three days after acid was thrown on another college student in Bardhaman district.
The attack took place when she came out of her house to answer a door bell. She has since been admitted to a city hospital.
In the past two months, five incidents of acid attack were reported in the State.
Acid Survivors Foundation India (ASFI), a non-government organisation, claimed that between 2006 and 2013 West Bengal saw as many as 83 cases of acid attacks.
The Joint director of ASFI, Anita D Souza, said that despite stringent laws restricting sale of acids, the guidelines are not followed in West Bengal.
