July 17, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - Kolkata:

Metro railway services were disrupted after a woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train at Esplanade Station here on Saturday.

According to Metro officials, as soon as the Dum Dum-bound train reached the station in the afternoon, a young woman, whose identity is yet to be verified, jumped onto the tracks and died on the spot.

Power supply stopped

To retrieve the body, the authorities blocked power supply which led to delay in services.

Train services from Maidan to Central stations were stopped for over an hour while in other sections, services were normal, officials said.

To check such incidents, Metro authorities have been monitoring CCTV footage of passengers and also posted RPF personnel along the platform. - PTI
