There would be limited or no water logging in Kolkata during the monsoon this year, claims the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
The ruling party, in a statement, cited the reason as a ubiquitous upgrade of the city’s nearly 150-year old sewer system. Kolkata receives most of its average annual rainfall of nearly 2,000 millimetres during monsoon around the middle of the year resulting in massive water-logging due to clogged tunnels. Now, TMC claims that the ‘menace’ is finally over
Ahead of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) polls, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) claimed on Monday that the KMC has nearly completed the upgradation process of the city’s sewer system. It would reduce the city’s water logging problem to a great extent, the TMC statement said.
The TMC asked the people to inform the concerned ward office in case they notice chocked sewers, gully pits and house drainage.
