Giving ample hints of inducting former Trinamool Congress heavyweight Mukul Roy within its fold, the BJP leadership on Saturday said the process of inclusion was in progress.
“The final decision Mukul Roy joining the party was not taken today (Saturday). I can only say that the process is in progress. Opinions of State (West Bengal) leadership and the unit as a whole were noted and accordingly, the central leadership will take a decision on the issue,” the party’s national secretary, Rahul Sinha, told media persons.
The remarks come after BJP national general secretary Kaliash Vijayvargeye had on record said that Mr. Roy has expressed his willingness to join BJP.
“The party state leadership will have to take a decision. The Central leadership can give necessary advice,” the BJP general secretary has said.
Mr. Vijayvargeye who was in Siliguri during the day suddenly left for New Delhi to meet party president Amit Shah, further fuelling rumours about Mr. Roy’s impending induction in the party.
Mr Roy had left the Trinamool Congress earlier this month due to serious differences cropping up between him and party supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
