Seeking details of her financial dealings with the scam-tainted Saradha group, the Enforcement Directorate has summoned another Trinamool Congress MP, Shatabdi Roy.
Ms. Roy, who served as the brand ambassador of the Saradha group, has been asked to appear before the agency here on Wednesday.
“The notice was issued several days ago. We want to know how much money she received from the Saradha group and what was the agreement between her and the company,” a senior official told The Hindu on Tuesday.
Saradha group chairman and managing director Sudipta Sen had earlier told presspersons that he had paid Rs. 2 lakh a month to Ms. Roy while she was the brand ambassador. The actor-turned-politician has been maintaining that she made public appearances for Saradha the same way she did for other companies.
Earlier, the election agent of Mr. Roy, Somnath Dutta, who served as the vice-president of the media wing of the Saradha group, was arrested in connection with the scam.
While the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the scam on Supreme Court directives, the Enforcement Directorate is investigating violations under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
