One killed in bomb blast in Bardhaman; one detained

One person died and two others were injured in a blast in West Bengal’s Bardhaman district on Saturday. The incident took place in the Katwa subdivision of the district.

“A person named Kani Seikh died in the crude bomb blast,” Superintendent of Police, Bardhaman Kunal Agarwal told The Hindu . He also said that the explosion took place while crude bombs were being prepared in a house. The police have found nine crude bombs in the house and have disposed them.

“We have detained one person for interrogation today. So far there are no arrests in the case,” said Mr. Agarwal. Asked whether Mr. Seikh had any past criminal records, he said they have not come across any evidence so far in this regard.
