A City Court on Thursday remanded Myanmarese national Khalid Mohammed and two other suspects in the Bardhaman blast case to eight days of custody of the National Investigation Agency ( NIA).
Khaleed alias Mohammed Khalid was arrested by the NIA from Hyderabad earlier this week. He is a trained explosives expert and allegedly part of the Rohingya Solidarity organisation, the NIA has claimed.
He was produced before the Court along with the head of Bardhaman module Sajid and Amjad Sheikh. Both are allegedly operatives of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and are are associated with the accidental blast at Bardhaman last month.
“Khalid along with blast mastermind Sajid alias Sheikh Rahamatullah and Amjad Sheikh have been remanded to NIA custody for eight days,” said counsel Shyamal Ghosh.
They were produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Mumtaz Khan.
During the hearing in the Court, the counsel appearing for the NIA said that the NIA team visiting Bangladesh has returned and the information collected by them has to be verified by interrogating the two accused.
Five other accused which includes two women Razia Bibi, Alima Bibi and Abdul Hakim, Zia-ul-Haque and Hashem Mollah were also produced before the Court. They were remanded to judicial custody till December 5.
